Guest curator, Michel Allen, director of the Allen Gallery in Chelsea, selected twelve artists from among the 39 who entered. She reviewed 474 pieces (a record) in record time. "It was a lot of fun," she said, "I especially enjoyed picking the top five."

"Michel's speed was amazing, " says barebrush CEO Ilene Skeen. "She kept saying, 'Oh, I really like this one,' and 'I love this!' as the cursor flew over the curator's lightbox and she selected her picks." Michel especially liked the abstract figures of Emily Rich and the strong graphics and attitudes of the work by Chanit Roston. Suhas Tavkar delighted her with his smoking Nude10a, and she called Jacqui Morgan's Mystery Woman, "magnificent."

The artists represented for April 2008 are: Roger Cummiskey*, Donna Cleary, Donelli J. DiMaria, Charmaine Frost*, Guenter Knop, Lucinda Luvaas, Jen Mazza*, Jacqui Morgan, Emily Rich*, Jennie Rosenbaum, Chanit Roston, and Suhas Tavkar*.

Each of the artists selected for the calendar receives two (2) complimentary listings. Five artists, indicated by asterisks (*), are nominated for the Curators Choice Awards (box at right).
