Curator: Richard Pionk

Richard Pionk, president of the Salmagundi Club, teacher at the Art Students League, and noted artist, curated this October n*des-of-the-month virtual exhibition. Mr. Pionk is a master pastellist, featured in many books, museum shows and collections throughout the US. This calendar is dedicated to the memory of Joe Levenson (1921-2002), the long-time monitor of the Thursday night sketch class at the Salmagundi. It was Joe's friendly, welcoming attitude that made my initial contact with the Salmagundi Club so unexpectedly warm and special in 1989. I think Joe would have liked the idea of the n*des-of-the-month calendar, and many of us at the Salmagundi remember him fondly.

The October n*des-of-the-month calendar marks the second calendar in our series. The artists who are represented are: Oudi Arroni (19, 20, 21, 27), Gaye Beda (18), Claude Gaveau (10), Linda Krieg (5, 6, 7, 14), Sandro LaFerla (1, 2, 8), Pat Langer (3, 4, 11), Moon Hi Lee (9), Chris Miller (17, 24), Jon Rettich (12, 13), Arkady Roytman (28), Anthony Santella (15, 16, 22, 23), and me, Ilene Skeen (29, 30, 31). In addition, Warren Davis, born in 1865 and a Salmagundian from 1897 until his death in 1928, is included for the jury of selection (25, 26).
