Art is listed in a blog format, latest listing first. A click on the entry in the Art Log opens a page with a larger image and full description. To see the barebrush Art Log, click here. Each artist also appears by name in the Artists Index. To see the Artists Index, click here. Barebrush provides each artist with a personal Artist's Lightbox to showcase the artwork (click on the double star in the Artist Index to see the lightbox for that artist). The Artist's Lightbox provides a convenient link to send to contacts and collectors.
N*des-of-the-month calendar contestsThe N*des-of-the-Month is a virtual juried exhibition of the art selected from the entries in the Art Log. Each calendar is juried by a different guest art professional. Listing of art in the Art Log includes automatic entry into 2 calendar contests, guaranteeing artists that two different art professionals will review the art. The exhibition is presented on the web in a unique calendar format, one artwork per day of the month. Art which is selected for a calendar stays on the site permanently appearing in the current month and then as part of the BAREBRUSH archives. The N*des-of-the-Month art calendar contest has been published at www.barebrush.com since 2006. The guest curator also selects the nominees for the Curators Choice Awards. Winners of the Curators Choice Awards receive recognition and prizes.
Rules and procedure for the n*des-of-the-month Juried Shows:Members upload art to the website. Each month, a different guest art professional selects the n*des-of-the-month for the upcoming calendar. The number of artworks selected is equal to the number of days in the month.
To be considered for the n*des-of-the-month contests, the artwork must represent art of the nude, meaning people. Work which qualifies for the contest will be posted in the ArtLog and the Artist's Lightbox. Multiple nudes are okay, of course.
Because the Artist's Lightbox is an efficient and convenient place to display art to collectors and dealers, barebrush does allow work which does not qualify for the contests. Artists who wish to display other genres of art may show them in their Artist's Lightbox. This includes work related to the nude figure or not: clothed figures, denuded forests, bare branches, landscapes, portraits, still lifes, genre paintings, abstracts, etc. In this way, viewers can become acquainted with and enjoy the full exent of the artist's creativity.
There is no restriction of subject matter. However, only art of the n*de will qualify for the calendar contests. The artist must maintain at least one (1) contest-qualified nude in the ArtLog to display artwork on barebrush.
BAREBRUSH welcomes all media, all styles. However, please note that BAREBRUSH reserves the right to reject any artwork. BAREBRUSH is committed to maintain the quality of the website for the viewing and collecting public.
Multiple nudes are okay, of course, as are any medium -- painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, found objects, etc. No pornography (see our terms of use).
Barebrush.com is a website dedicated exclusively to the art of the nude. Membership on the site is free, and listing art on the site for 60 days is a nominal cost of $1 per artwork. There is a $10 minimum for 10 listings which can be used all at once or over time at the artist’s option. There is no pre-set monthly charge. Listings may be renewed automatically or allowed to expire (artist's option). Interested collectors may contact the artist or dealer directly about the artworks. Commissions are not charged on sales unless barebrush is directly involved in the sales process also at the artist's option. Optional extras include the Personal Page Template and the Featured Artist’s Link and "Brag" Page.
Also on the site is an Art News & Events blog which presents opportunities, events and news in the world of the nude in art.
