The model took a pose on the stool and I started with the watercolor and added the charcoal to define the form. This is a very early piece and was in the first solo show of my watercolor series, The Bare Brush, in 1997.

Ilene Skeen has won awards from the Islip Arts Council, the Smithtown Arts Council, Allied Artists of America and the Salmagundi Club.
Reviewing a show of her watercolor figures in 1997, Newsday advised, "...don't overlook [these] delicate watercolor nudes...'
Ms. Skeen has a BA in Art, an MBA in operations research, and an MA in anthropology. Her corporate career included accounting, management and business systems design. Ms. Skeen's unique background enabled her to found barebrush.com in 2006, dedicated to the art of the nude. |
