This particular artwork caught her flipping her hair that was just saturated with the water.
I thought of this as a modern Degas artwork as the dancer got out of her bath.
When her costume got wet the audience was not sure if she was totally nude especially with the dramatic lighting on stage.
Performed at the Dicapo Opera Theater on 76 street in Manhattan during the 3 week International Dance Festival 2006.
The artwork appears on the website that IDF hosts for me-www.JeffreyL.Berman.com.
The dance had to be programmed at the end of the night because the splashing really got the stage soaked.
The International Dance Festival tries to present dance groups that do work that is cutting edge and out of the ordinary.
I am lucky to document some interesting performances right from the orchestra pit. The choreographers use this work for press releases, posters and review material to see how new works appear on stage during actual performance.
I have been working with the IDF for the past 4 years and now am on their board of directors
my title is Director of Visual Concepts and have documented events at Alvin Ailey, Doris Duke and Dicapo Opera Theater where Idf showcases..
In addition I worked with Ajkun Ballet at New York City Center, and the Brooklyn Arts Council to produce work used by Lincoln Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. I have taken so many photos that I finally capture the essence and exact moment where the action peaks. This is translated onto fine art pastel work that is exhibited with groups all over New York.
