Short Month Best-of-the-Rest (non-nude) Sensationals -- Vaughan Lewis is a gallerist and preparator at MaganMetz Gallery, as well as participating in private curatorial projects. MagnanMetz Gallery is co-owned and directed by Alberto Magnan and Dara Metz. The gallery exhibits international cutting-edge, emerging and established artists working in a broad range of media. Magnan and Metz work closely with their artists to develop and promote their careers and support complex and unique projects in both the private and public sphere.

Mr. Lewis selected the three Curators' Choice nominees for February, starting the month with a flashy oil, Work #658 by Robert Copelan, of Lynchburg VA. He also chose an unmistakable portrait in watercolor, E. A. POE by Rebecca Venn of Kenosha, WI, and a startling oil, Skewed Portrait by Terry Tayler of Wauconda, IL.

Eight artworks are making their calendar debut. Five artworks are being retired, having now appeared in three calendars: Friends #2 (Pinocchio Teaches Stimpy to Paint) by Donelli J. DiMaria from Santa Fe, NM; Dusk in the Copse by Cynthia Angeles from Washington, DC; Work #658 by Robert Copelan from Lynchburg, VA; Paradise Lost by Ione Citrin from Los Angeles, CA; Waiting by Chuck Miller from Corsicana, TX.

The art for this calendar comes from 10 states as well as San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Panama, St. Petersburg, Russia, Malaga, Spain and Manchester, England.

Each of the artists selected for the calendar receives two (2) complimentary listings for each artwork included in this calendar. Three artists, indicated by asterisks (*), are nominated for the Curators Choice Awards. Curators’ Choice nominees receive 8 additional complimentary listings. The top artist receives an additional prize. Viewers can also vote for “The People's Choice,” a poll which includes all of the art in the calendar. The top three artworks in The People's Choice win one (1) complementary listing for their artists. Winners announced March 1st.

The Barebrush program of retiring artworks that have been selected for three calendars is designed to encourage all artists to show their best new work and keep their online galleries fresh and interesting.
