Guest curator, Peter Scott, founder and director of SHAG in the Chelsea art district in New York City, reviewed the work submitted for the February show very carefully. He had a difficult time selecting the 29 pieces for February. He looked especially for strong statements, good design, and technical skills. “It was hard to choose,” he said when it was over. Peter chose 2 Figures in Abstraction by Emily Rich (NY) to launch the month. He thought her By the Sea surreal landscape unusual. Some of the other artists from whom Peter chose multiple works were Jennie Rosenbaum (Australia, 4 pieces), Donelli J. DiMaria (New Mexico, 3 pieces). He thought the works by Yukako (NY), Tim Woodhouse (TX) and Martina Shapiro (Canada) were “strong.” He also liked Roger Cummiskey’s Sad which has the honor of ending January (Spain).
