Afternoon Glow - Kenosha Theater by Dan Simoneau, ISAP

Title: Afternoon Glow - Kenosha Theater

Desc: My model and I had the privilege of being given access to the now derelict Kenosha Theater, a 1920's movie palace in Kenosha, WI. Though in poor shape and awaiting a rebirth, the theater has a grace and beauty that remains and refuses to die. For this image, I had the model pose in the vestibule at the entrance to the theater. I was in the lobby looking toward the doors and saw this magical light coming through the dust coated glass, creating a glow. I had the model stand between the doors in order to capture the wonderful light hitting both sides of his body and leaving shadow down the middle of his body. Another important aspect of the painting is the segmentation and repetition from the panes in the french doors.

Media: acrylic
